you have to put them close enough to the originating signal - they only pass through as clear of a signal as they are receiving - garbage in/garbage out. Secondly I had issues with handshaking between the two networks - its not always smooth.

I was able to get a MOCA extender for my network - basically uses the cable line to send the signal over hard-wired to another unit which plugs into another cable line in another part of the house. This thing: https://www.verizon.com/home/accessories/fios-network-extender/
