Subject: I'm going over some very old code today... - [Edit Post]          0   0

trying to track down a very weird problem a user is having. There's something so poignant about these comments from the late 90s. There's one here from February 1998 which is the same month I had my heart broken for the last time. I don't know if this is before or after the event but that's 20 years ago now dang.

I don't know what to tell this guy about his crash, though. There's no record of anything like it in my tech support logs and the same data works fine on every other computer he's tried it on. Its just his machine. Stuff like this is almost impossible to diagnose - I'd have to run the code in the debugger on his machine to really get to the bottom of it. Assuming it would actually occur under those conditions.

Otherwise, I'll have to just go down the code listing step by step looking for statements that might throw a "Run-time error 13 Type Mismatch". That's a VB6 error code that's usually related to assignments around variant types and from interactions with DBMS systems. bleh.
