Subject: Do you ever consider that maybe you are wrong? - [Edit Post] 0 0
I'm going to be honest Sar, between Cuomo and nursing homes, ignorant conservatives not knowing any better and therefor we shouldn't guilt/shame them for their bad behavior, and Parler being rightfully removed for failure to remove inciteful violent posts as censorship and Angela Merkel / Facebook nonsense you were trying to defend with, I just don't really understand where you think you have solid ground to stand on here.
You come off as an abused spouse, defending the abuser. Why? I answered you below in your 2 responses and you say nothing, is it because you have nothing to say, but you really REALLY want your feelings to be true? What the hell does the NRA have to do with the Republican Party regulating it's values and members (Aka Cheney vs GQP)? Can you even say? I made my point stupidly simple, and you didn't answer it.
Do you understand the term false equivalency? Don't you think that maybe your point about Newt Gingrich is exactly that? I pointed out the contextual differences didn't I? Was that not worth engaging?
I'm not saying this to be an asshole. I'm genuinely curious how you reconcile these things. You obviously didn't respond below about NRA/Newt/1st Amendment, it is silence, much like it was when I was practically begging you to explain yourself on Parler and pointing out what I felt was logically and rationally inconsistent.
So what gives, are you in the stage of life when the truth or rational and reasonable arguments become inconvenient you just shrug and carrying on believing whatever it is you want to believe regardless of argument or challenge?
But frankly it resonates with maybe 30% of the population. Because most of us think this was a group of disorganized morons who got into a riot and are presently being prosecuted for it, rather than an in-surrrrrr-ection.
Well we can't determine that without an investigation, right? Boebert was allegedly giving tours to people involved in the insurrection, right? How can we prove or disprove that without an investigation? Or is your position that only Democrats should be accountable, not Republicans? Maybe you would care more if their last name was Cuomo giving these tours. ;)
Anyway I'm sure you will take this the wrong way, but I'm serious. If you truly believe this stuff, don't you think you should justify it beyond your feelings? Because as far as I can see, that is all you have, and you deflect to the NRA/Newt Gingrich, so you don't have to acknowledge the terrible truth and path we are on with this. I can understand that. Disagree sure, but I get it, I don't want to believe it either.
Hell I was hopeful that January 6th was a "biting the hand that feeds" that would change our direction. It did not, and I expressed my concerns back then that this wasn't the end but the beginning of these new dark times. So I understand not wanting to acknowledge reality, wanting to believe something else, but what else is there? It sure as shit isn't Newt Gingrich and the NRA to scapegoat for why Gaetz, MTG, Boebert, etc... are still in the good graces of the party while Cheney is out for not bowing to Glorious Orange Shitstain, repeating the Big Lie, and wanting a reasonable bipartisan commission on January 6th.
“I have a foreboding of an America in my children’s or my grandchildren’s time — when the United States is a service and information economy; when nearly all the key manufacturing industries have slipped away to other countries; when awesome technological powers are in the hands of a very few, and no one representing the public interest can even grasp the issues; when the people have lost the ability to set their own agendas or knowledgeably question those in authority; when, clutching our crystals and nervously consulting our horoscopes, our critical faculties in decline, unable to distinguish between what feels good and what’s true, we slide, almost without noticing, back into superstition and darkness. The dumbing down of America is most evident in the slow decay of substantative content in the enormously influential media, the 30-second sound bites (now down to 10 seconds or less), lowest common denominator programming, credulous presentations on pseudoscience and superstition, but especially a kind of celebration of ignorance.” -Carl Sagan 1995 "What is existence but the absorption of and reaction to the data that the universe presents. You can either grasp these truths or you can misinterpret them to your constant and considerable agitation."
